Jan 25

Today in class, Meng Laoshi gave us red paper lanterns as gifts in celebration of upcoming New Year festivities! Then I had lunch at the delicious dumpling place with our favorite eggplant dish.
We ended up with too much food, though, and so we decided to get our sour and spicy soup to go. Well, instead of putting it in a plastic container, the woman put it in a plastic bag! It was so funny seeing the soup in a bag. However, Adriel lost patience carrying it, and we were feeling in the New Years spirit, so we gave it to a homeless man on the stairs to the bridge.

Then, me, Christina, and Fii went shopping around BNU. Originally, Christina wanted to find new shoes, but after we realized that might be a difficult task, we just went shopping for the sake of shopping. We found a really interesting store that was so small, with long racks along the walls packed so tightly with clothes that we could hardly remove them to see what they looked like. Also, each of the clothing pieces were one-of-a-kind, so although they were priced really fair (about 25-45 yuan a piece, which is about $4-$7.50 a piece), we weren't allowed to try any of them on. It kind of made things interesting and fun because we got to be surprised when we got home with our purchased goods. Luckily, they all fit wonderfully! It was like Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants where something fits everyone perfectly, despite their different style preferences and body shapes. Magical.
